Eloping to New York City on Christmas Eve is so romantic. Kym and Melissa came from Australia, and got married at the Hotel on Rivington. My love for this hotel continues to grow. Not only did they send up champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries, they let Kym and Melissa use their penthouse event space to tie the knot. (I also called down to the front desk to see if they had someone on hand who could tie a bowtie, and they sent up the most dapper gentleman to do the job.)
The clouds broke just as we were heading outside onto the rooftop terrace for the ceremony, and even though it was pretty chilly, it was gorgeous and, of course, Marley Jay did a wonderful job officiating.
Cynthia Holt was on hand to coordinate the day and keep us all in line. Having someone on hand to keep everything running as smoothly as possible is a great experience.
Other fun things:
Melissa specifically requested Petals and Roots create a bouquet using only local flowers, and they delivered a beautiful Christmasy arrangement of New York flowers.
After getting married, they cut their just-for-two cake, had champagne, and took photosin the penthouse before we did our portrait session around the Lower East Side of New York City. Our walked landed us at a bar they had picked out beforehand, the Copper Still, for whiskey. The Copper Still is, coincidentally, owned by Shane, whose wedding I had photographed a few weeks earlier. Kym and Melissa chose it based on the fact that it reminded them of the Pocket Bar in Sydney where they had their first date.
