These two world travelers have the best engagement story:
"We got engaged in a castle in Europe - which was pretty awesome. We were doing a 2 week jaunt around Europe, and when we were in Budapest, visiting Buda Castle, Mike managed to find the one secluded place and propose. It was on the back-side of the castle under a turret. I have a postcard of Buda Castle up at my desk at work and you can actually see the turret where we got engaged!"
Mike and Julia live in Manhattan, but had their wedding ceremony in her home town of Larchmont, at the church her family has been attending for over two decades: St John's Episcopal Church. The church was built in 1894, so it has those amazing soaring ceilings that make photographers swoon.
Other fun details about the day: She wore her mother's cathedral length veil. The weather was chilly - not at all what we expected for the middle of July. Julia and her dad make the exact same, "happy nervous" face.
Their reception was held at the Larchmont Shore Club, and was a wonderful mix of costal New England style that I love (I grew up in Connecticut!) and it has a bowling alley in the basement, which brought about some "bridal bowling" (I also put my camera down for a second to roll a bright pink six pounder down the lane - yes, I'm a weenie and bowl with a six pound bowling ball - and very much appreciated the gutter-bumpers.)
Mike and Julia, congrats on a beautiful, fun wedding! It is absolutely time for you to get a dog.
