Salvatore and Valeria are a fun couple to hang out with, and listening to them talk is so cool: they slip into and out of English and Italian like they are shrugging a comfortable sweater on and off.

A good handful of friends and family came out to celebrate their intimate wedding at City Hall in Manhattan. After the ceremony, I took off alone with the couple to visit the streets in the city where they fell in love years ago. We went to Greenwich Village and took photos by the street signs that marked the location of the home they first shared and even took photos on the stoop of their first apartment together.

We then risked the ire other New Yorkers by heading half-way down the steps of one of NYC's busiest subway stations. It's the West 4th - Washington Square station, and was their "home station" when they lived in the City. (If you haven't lived in New York you might not understand the fondness one gets from one's "home" subway station. I have a huge soft spot for my little R train station in Park Slope!) Getting this shot was tricky, because I sort of blocked the flow of traffic a little by standing at the top of the stairs. It's the kind of thing that would have made me shy a year ago, but I'm completely un-intimidated now. Half the people are really excited to see a bride in a wedding dress, and the other half are civil enough to keep their grumpiness at me to a minimum. The photo is worth it! We got the shot in about 30 seconds.

After, we met back up with friends and family at the Bubble Lounge for some toasts and champagne before they headed out to dinner.

What a great intimate wedding! I am so excited I got to share part of the day with this fun couple and their sweet friends and family.
