lesbian wedding photos new york city elope

These two tattooed brides traveled from a tiny town in California all the way to New York to elope at the City Clerks Office. Their coordinated purple satin details and matching rainbow heart tattoos make these photos so fun!

After their city hall ceremony and gleeful exit from the City Clerk’s office we headed to the garden right across the street from the Manhattan Marriage Bureau for their portraits, and climbed on the Manhattan courthouse steps for some more post elopement photos on the lovely gray stone. It’s one of my favorite places ever to take photos because the natural light there makes for beautiful portraits.

These two were so much fun to meet; they were sweet, kind, and so excited to be getting married.

Congratulations Chrissi and Jordan!

Jerry & Lisa – elopement | New York City Elopement Photographer

Jerry and Lisa had an intimate City Hall wedding with family and friends, and then we went to the Southstreet Seaport for some wedding portraits. I’ve never shot there before, and was excited to take photos among the quirky mix of modern sky scrapers and old-timey buildings.

Denice & Jones – elopement | New York City Elopement Photographer

At Denice and Jone’s City Hall elopement, their daughter proudly served as flower girl. While our group was crossing the street to the park across from City Hall, she fussed about holding anyone’s hand. I offered my own, figuring I was new and more interesting than a family member, and she accepted, tucking her teeny hand in mine cheerfully. It was the sweetest part of my day.

Jones got a tiny bit emotional during the vows, and after, I sensed the newlyweds needed alone time post-ceremony before the outdoor photos. I sent them to the far end of City Hall and ushered the rest of the family outside. The couple joined us a few minutes later, and Denise thanked me. Sometimes it’s not all about just being the photographer.

Grant & Mark – elopement | New York City Elopement Photographer

Not gonna lie: I kind of have a crush on both of them.

Mark and Grant eloped to New York City from the South after several years together. I adored how happy they were to be getting married.

Gil & John – elopement | New York City Elopement Photographer

John asked me at one point, “Are my family members taking too many photos?” and I smiled, because I often get asked that, and the answer is always no. “Family paparazzi” is just fine with me, although I always encourage everyone put their cameras down and be 100% present during the actual wedding ceremony. But during the portraits before and after? Go for it. And yes, I will totally snap a photo with your iPhone for you to post on Facebook. “Just got married!” is an important status update!

April & Dena – elopement | New York City Elopement Photography

These southern brides had a fun time walking out of the court house hand-in-hand after their wedding, as several people on the streets of New York City offered up a gleeful “Congratulations!”

I’ve never seen anyone stand like this to get hitched, and I thought it was so sweet. Side by side.

Erli & Rebecca – elopement | New York City Elopement Photographer

These two moms from Arizona flew to New York to get married and enjoy a week of sight-seeing and honeymooning. I love how well they coordinated.

Josh + Lu Wei – Elopement | New York City Elopement Photographer

Josh and Lu Wei were down south for a wedding that Josh officiated, came to Brooklyn to visit our mutual friend Scott while they were already in the US (they live in Asia), and decided on a whim to get married while they were in town. Scott called me and asked if I was available to photograph it and serve as witness… “Like, tomorrow?”

And I was, which made me feel lucky. These two are the sweetest.

Elopement Idea: Row Boats in Central Park | New York City Elopement Photographer

Central Park is full of cozy corners to get married in, and after, you can rent a row boat and go paddling about the lake as newly weds. Very romantic! (Also, this photographer would LOVE to take that photo. Just putting it out there!)

Jen & Vincent – elopement | New York City Elopement Photographer

This was the “speak now, or forever hold your peace” part, and I, the sole witness, did not speak!

An elopement plus a photo shoot in Dumbo for a fun Toronto couple. They came out of the revolving door in the same door section, and spilled onto the sidewalk, newly married and laughing hysterically.
