Lou had planned his Central Park proposal weeks in advance and managed to keep the lid on the surprise! We took their engagement photos all around the Mall and Bethesda Fountain.

Dave & Jax – engagement | NYC Engagement Photographer
Dave, Jax and I took to the streets of SoHo for a very New York City engagement shoot. Per my advice, Jax wore flats to get to our SoHo set, and changed on the sidewalk. We visited the Pearl River Mart for some fun masked photos, and took a few shots in the paper lantern department.
Erik & Kimberly – engagement | NYC Engagement Photographer
I love Kimberly’s pink shirt! Kimberly and Erik opted for a Brooklyn Bridge engagement photo shoot and then we headed to Brooklyn Bridge Park and the streets of DUMBO for more shots.
Michael & Marina – engagement | New York City engagement photographer
These two long-distance loves met me in DUMBO for an engagement shoot a few weeks before their wedding. They were excited to almost be living in the same state!
Joseph & Miriam – proposal and engagement | New York City Engagement Photographer
This is a man about to propose.
Success!
Joseph asked me to come along to the Cloisters so he could propose to Miriam, who thought she was just visiting the museum with a friend while Joseph was at a work function. Since she didn’t know what I looked like, I was able to help coordinate them to wind up alone by this fountain, where Joseph had hidden a sweet custom-made statue at the base.
She said yes!
Then we walked around the grounds taking photos.
Congratulations, you two!
Rebecca and Dan – Engagement | New York City Engagement Photographer
Rebecca and Dan are getting married! For their engagement shoot, we took to Central Park starting at the Ladies Pavilion with their cute dog. They were immediately at ease in front of the camera, and the weather was perfect. I love that Rebecca was into my “shamelessly show off your ring!” shot idea. I think those are so fun.
Dumbo Family & Engagment Shoot | Brooklyn Family Photographer | Brooklyn Engagement Photographer
Doesn’t this family look like a whole lot of fun? They totally are! We did a combo engagement-family shoot in Dumbo, visiting my new favorite place in Brooklyn, Jane’s Carousel. They brought the “love” sign which I thought was very cool, and we just found these balloons, hanging out by a trash can, waiting to be adopted and made into a really fun photo prop.
Chris + Hany | Brooklyn Engagement Photographer
Chris and Hany are serious bike riders; it was only fitting that their engagement photos featured their favorite pastime. Also featured: Chris’s penchant for making sassy faces. Going through the shots later cracked me up! Hany seems to enjoy them, too.
I thought the bicycles were so clever! They made for really fun photos. Apparently Hany’s bike is something fancy; people kept stopping us to admire it and ask him about it. Uh, I just liked the pretty colors!
I make everyone kiss… even helmets.
Jen + Micah | New York City Portrait Photographer
It was 1998. Maybe 1999. Jen and I are sitting her car at the mall after school when she turns to me and says,
“So, I kind of like someone.”
“What! Who?!”
“Uh…” she chewed on the straw of her Frapachino and grinned shyly. “Micah.”
“OH MY GOSH! Do you think he knows?!”
“I doubt it.”
13 years later, he knows. And he likes her, too.
Since then, there’s been a college romance, a wedding, a battle with infertility, a gorgeous baby girl, a devastating diagnosis, a funeral, and a year of mourning. Throughout it all, though, there has been love. So, so, so much love, and you can feel it brimming in their house when you walk in, even when it was brimming with sadness, too.
Some of these photos are for their “hopeful adoptive parents” file, and I asked myself, “Does the love come through?” I hope so.
P.S. Thankfully, the goofball in both of them DEFINITELY comes though!
I love them!
Karin + Megan | New York City Engagement Photographer

Here are Megan and Karin, newlyweds from Portland, OR that are honeymooning in New York City. They are the second couple to win a photoshoot with me from A Practical Wedding. My goodness, do I ever love meeting APW folks! They always feel like old friends.
We started on the rooftop of the building they are staying in, which has killer Park views.

Then we headed down into the Park.
I love “on benches” shots. They remind of that Simon and Garfunkel song.

Here’s the thing I learned about newlyweds, and this delighted me: they kiss a lot.
In fountains,

balanced behind railings,

and on the subway!

Central Park has wonderful, interesting architecture – something I was happy for since all the trees were bare and gray. I especially like all this golden stone.

I had to include this photo below. There were a lot of “Meg pointing things out” shots – “She gets it from her dad!” said Karin, grinning – and I really liked this about her.

Ladies, it was SO wonderful to meet you. I wish you years and years of happiness.
