Cool Grandmas | New York City Editoral Photographer

My friend Lucy, who is seven, was rocking her purple Chucks.

“They were a gift from my grandma!”

I also have a pair of purple chucks, and I got them from my grandma, too.

Photo Booth Party | New York City Photobooth

Fun story: several people have asked these two if they’re brothers; aside from the most obvious difference, I can totally see it.

I wanted to do another photo booth example, so I had legendary wedding designer Michelle Edgemont create this insanely cool backdrop out of crepe paper for me, and rounded up several of my cutest friends to pose in front of it. We popped open some beers, cranked up the music, and this is the result! If you’d like a similar set up at your next party, get in touch.

I teamed up with stylist and wedding designer Michelle Edgemont for a feature in Styled Magazine, issue four. Go check us out on pages 40 – 44, and read the whole issue, too. There’s some great stuff in there, including party planning tips from my good friend Erin Loechner from Design for Mankind.

Drinks With Amber Charity Event – A PhotoBooth | New York City Portrait Photographer

My first foray into setting up a photo booth was OK but not great. I hosted a charity event and set one up, both for fun and so that I could learn and work out the kinks before offering one to my clients.

Lessons gleaned:

Make sure the flash fires consistently. There were some technical issues with that, and a handful of photos came out too dark as a result. I’m working with someone to fix this for next time.

Have a backdrop where people can stand, not sit. Because I didn’t section off a clear, standing-only designated space for the photo booth, people walked through the set not realizing, and sat down in it just to sit, not to take photos.

Tape down the whole backdrop. It bunched up and you can see behind it in a few shots. I didn’t really think this would be an issue, and I’m bummed.

But! Overall, not so bad! The expressions are so hilarious, and my friends really had fun with it.

Check it out!

Cookies from Pickle Petunia | New York City Editorial Photographer

This photoshoot was so fun! It was a nice change of pace and really cozy to be puttering around my home studio, listening to music, just me and some gorgeous baked goods. It was the perfect winter project.

These are all made by Pickle Petunia, a new start up bakery in Brooklyn. They needed retail photos and called upon me to produce them. I enjoyed picking out the prop items for each. Want to know my secret? Ikea! They have great plates, napkins and placemats for photographing. Not too busy, not too plain.

(I posted each photo individually for your Pinterest-ing pleasure!)

Can you spot the photo that resulted in sugar ALL OVER my studio floor?
