Math might not be the first thing that pops into every couple's mind as a potential wedding theme but, for Elizabeth and Tom who met in a college probability class, it was a must-have element. Elizabeth gave me the details:
"The save the date was the math equation that, when graphed, looks like a heart. We used the Fibonacci sequence for table numbers and gave guests equations so solve to identify their tables. Tom wrote a quiz for guests and the person with the best score got the flowers."
For their wedding reception at the Ace Hotel in Midtown Manhattan they combined these math elements with their love of New York City — their invitations featured the New York City skyline and the favors were a mix CD of New York inspired music. The couple was excited to have their friends and family together in the city to enjoy good food, old fashioned cocktails, music, and their nuptials.
Their morning wedding was held at City Hall in Manhattan - they took the subway to get there - where they exchanged vows in front of their close friends and family. Elizabeth wore her grandmother's wedding right on her right hand and a homemade hair comb to go with her long white dress. Tom wore a navy tie and a dramatic purple boutonniere.
After the ceremony, Elizabeth and Tom went out to lunch and spent the afternoon together before reuniting with the guests at the Ace Hotel Liberty Room for a cocktail hour followed by dinner, toasts, and cake.
