Almost a year ago at this point, Hannah, Kirsten and I Skyped about their elopement in New York City, so it's been a long time of anticipation for this wedding. I was excited to finally meet these New Zealanders and get them married! They expressed concern at finding good places to eat as Hannah is a vegetarian. I assured them that New York City is an amazing place to have any sort of special diet, and that they would have no trouble finding suitable entrees. Since they were arriving a few days before their wedding to explore, I made a reservation for them them at my favorite vegetarian restaurant in New York City, Dirt Candy. On the day of their wedding we did a first look at their hotel on the roof, followed by tequila shots for the brides and their friends. Then we all headed to the Shakespeare Garden in Central Park for their wedding. Judie Guild officiated a sweet ceremony under the flowering magnolia tree, and these brides celebrated their newly married status with a kiss and a perfectly executed fist bump.
Afterwards, we took wedding photos around Central Park and I walked them to Central Park West where they hailed their very first New York City cab.
Congratulations Kirsten and Hannah! Next time you come to New York, I promise I'll be camera-free and therefore able to join you in a tequila shot (or three.)
