Kate and Rob are from the UK, and love New York. When the thought of a proper wedding back home seemed overwhelming, they opted to elope in New York, complete with a handful of fun friends. Kate's aunt and uncle eloped years ago, and the only part of their wedding they regretted was having one low-quality photo, so I was thrilled to provide a bit more of a wedding album for them and their family. They were SO great to work with!
They choose the Ludlow Hotel to get ready, which is a fantastic spot - I don't think the hotel has a poorly lit room, and the velvet, petrified wood, and white marble lend themselves to gorgeous getting ready backgrounds. My friend Cari Duprey was on hand to do Kate's hair and makeup; their ceremony was at City Hall, and we visited Hek Tad's Heart Wall for some wedding day photos (want to find it for yourself? It's in the East Village on 1st street, between 1st and 2nd Avenues. It's locked from dusk until dawn.)
Special thanks to Cynthia Holt from Cynthia Holt Events. She is starting a new branch of her company: New York City elopement planning. I'm really excited about this; it's something I've been asked about for the past few years, and I never quite knew where to send my clients. She came along with me on this wedding to help carry my gear and get a feel for the day. She also surprised me, by styling some awesome elements during the getting ready photos: the shoes in the window and the rings on the passports photo are all her idea. Cynthia, you're legend!
I cannot recommend her services highly enough. Having a planner makes your day more enjoyable, and it makes my job easier. So much easier, in fact, that if you're eloping and hire both of us, I'll send you a free mini album of your wedding images!
